Terms and refunds

The service

learnerborn ("we", "us") makes a personal letter, an award certificate, or both, for each person in a group, or a thank-you from a group to the person who leads it. You give us a few notes about each person, we draft the pages, and you review, change and approve them before downloading print ready PDF files. Everything is delivered on screen and by download. Nothing is shipped.

By using learnerborn.com or placing an order, you agree to these terms and to our privacy policy.

Who can use learnerborn

You must be 18 or older. By ordering, you confirm that you lead or represent the group you're ordering for, and that you're allowed to share the first names and notes you give us.

No account needed

You don't need an account or a password. You give your name and email when you order. If you stop partway, we can email you a sign-in link to pick up where you left off. Keep that link to yourself, because anyone with it can open your order.

Orders and prices

• Prices are per person, in US dollars (USD), and depend on what you make and how many people are in your group. They're on our pricing page, and your total is shown before you pay.
• The price per person for your group size applies to the whole order. That is our only discount, and it applies automatically.
• You pay once, by card, before writing begins. Payments are processed by Stripe; we never see your card number.
• Each order covers one group and one occasion. There's no subscription and nothing renews.

Refunds and fixes

Each one is made just for your group, so we can't offer refunds once you approve. If we got something wrong, we'll fix it for free.

Before you approve, you can change anything yourself or ask for a fresh version. If you were charged by mistake, charged twice, or a file you downloaded doesn't work, write to admin@learnerborn.com and we'll put it right.

Delivery

Your files are ready to download as soon as you approve them, and you can email each one to a family from the app. Everything in an order is deleted 30 days after the order is finished, or 60 days after an order is started and never finished, so please download your files before then.

Your notes and your letters

• Your notes and your finished letters and certificates are yours. You give us permission to use them only to make, show and deliver your order, and to fix it if something goes wrong.
• You may print, share and give your finished letters and certificates however you like. Our page designs stay ours: please don't copy or resell the designs on their own.

Letters drafted with AI

We use AI to draft each letter from only the notes you give us. A draft can get something wrong, miss what you meant or misspell a name. Please review each one, change anything you like, and approve it only when it says what you meant. You're responsible for the final words you approve and share.

Using learnerborn fairly

• Keep notes to kind, true moments. Don't include sensitive information about children or anyone else, such as health, disability, discipline, grades or test scores, family circumstances, or anything private.
• Only order for people you lead or represent, and only record your own voice, never a child's.
• Don't use learnerborn for anything unlawful, hateful, harassing or harmful, or to write about someone in a way that could hurt them.
• Don't try to break, overload or get around the security of the service, or use it to send unwanted email.

We may refuse or stop an order that breaks these rules.

Availability

We work hard to keep learnerborn running, but it may sometimes be unavailable for maintenance or reasons outside our control. We may change or improve the service. If we ever stop offering it, we'll give you time to download any order you've paid for.

Disclaimers

Except for the promises in these terms, learnerborn is provided as it is, without other warranties, to the extent the law allows.

Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total responsibility for any order is limited to fixing it or refunding what you paid for it. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer protection law that can't be limited.

Changes

We may update these terms. The date at the top shows when they last changed. The terms in place when you placed an order apply to that order.
