How it works

From a few notes to a letter they'll keep.

Three steps, about a minute per person once your names are in. Here's what you'll see at each one.

The three steps

  1. 1

    Tell us about your group

Choose who it's for, what you're making and how many people are in your group. You see the price per person and your total before you pay, and you pay once.

    • A letter, a certificate, or both, for each person. Or a thank-you from the whole group to the person who leads it, with everyone's names signed on it.
    • Add first names: type them, paste them, or upload a list.
    • Pick the occasion: the end of the year or season, a thank you, before a break, a birthday, a milestone or just because.
    • Choose a letter design and a certificate design, your group's colors and your logo if you have one.
  2. 2

Say what you noticed about each person

For each person, type or tap to talk. Your notes don't need to be polished, just true.

    • A moment you noticed, how they grew, something to keep working on, or what you'll remember.
    • Short and messy is fine. A sentence or two is plenty.
    • Spoken notes turn into text you can fix before anything is written.
    • Rather write the whole letter yourself? Choose your own words, and we only tidy the punctuation and paragraphs.
  3. 3

    Review, approve and print

Each letter is written in your voice, from only what you said about that person. We use AI to draft each letter from only the notes you give us.

    • Review each one, change anything you like, or ask for a fresh version.
    • Each person also gets an award title and a short certificate paragraph, written from the same notes.
    • Nothing is final until you approve it.
    • Download print ready PDFs, print at home or at a print shop, and email each one to the family if you like.

One real example

What you say, and what you get back.

Mr. Chen's notes for one student in his robotics club, and the letter and certificate that came back. Shown exactly as written. The name is made up.

A letter to Hana, from Mr. Chen

What Mr. Chen said

“Hana wrote the code for the line follower and kept rewriting it until it worked. She presented to the judges.”

The letter that came back

Dear Hana,

You earned this award for something that takes real persistence: writing code that actually works.

That line follower was not easy. You wrote the code, tested it, found the problems, and rewrote it. Then you did it again. You kept going back until it worked the way you wanted it to. Watching you stick with it like that showed me you have what it takes to be a real programmer.

And then you presented to the judges! Standing in front of judges and explaining your work takes courage, and you did it. You showed them what you built and how it worked, and that is something to be proud of.

I am so glad you are part of Lakeside Robotics. Keep coding, keep testing, and keep believing in yourself.

Mr. Chen

The certificate

The Keep-Coding-Until-It-Works Award

For writing the code for the line follower and refusing to give up until it worked. You tested it, found the problems, rewrote it, and kept going back until it did exactly what you wanted it to do. That kind of persistence is what great programmers are made of. And then you stood in front of the judges and presented your work, showing them what you built and how it worked. That takes real courage. You earned this award for sticking with it and seeing it through.
